The HBOS Group may have only been formed in September 2001, but we’ve already won a string of awards for the services we offer our customers, the way we treat our staff and our support for the community. Here’s just a selection:
Retail Bank of the Year – This top industry accolade was given to HBOS by Retail Banker International magazine in 2005. It took into account a number of factors, including personal banking focus, customer service and overall returns to shareholders.
Best Online Stockbroker – In 2005, the readers of Personal Finance magazine voted Halifax Share Dealing ‘Best Online Stockbroker’ for the third year in a row. This award provides an independent endorsement that the company is breaking the mould by making it easier for people to invest in stocks and shares.
Best Overall Lender – For the third year running, the Halifax was crowned Best Overall Lender in the 2005 Your Mortgage Awards.
Best Staff Share Plan in Europe – The HBOS share plan was voted ‘Best European All-Employee Share Ownership Plan’ for 2004 by the European Centre for Employee Ownership – a highly regarded international organisation.
Age Positive Award – HBOS picked up two awards at the annual Age Positive ceremony in 2004, for showing how a wide range of ages can enhance team working, improve services and increase the potential to generate business. It means we’ve now won more of these awards than any other company.
Arts Sponsorship Award – In recognition of our long-term sponsorship of the arts scene in Scotland, HBOS received the Arts, Business and Sustainability award at the 2004 Scottish Arts & Business Awards Dinner held in Edinburgh.
Diversity Accolade – HBOS was judged one of the top five private sector organisations in the UK for its work on race and diversity in 2004, by Race for Opportunity - a Business in the Community campaign.
Young Banker of the Year – In 2005, the prestigious Deloitte award went to David Martin, technical leader of Group technology, based in Edinburgh. David started his banking career with the Bank of Scotland, straight after leaving school.
