Your route to being a Personal Financial Advisor (PFA) starts with a three-week intensive training course conducted via distance learning. We'll help you pass your CeFA qualification and once you're through that, you're on your way. This will be followed by a personalised structured training schedule, where you'll spend seven weeks learning about HBOS, our products and what it is to be a Personal Financial Advisor. Then you'll be regularly monitored and receive ongoing support from a senior Personal Financial Advisor until you're full of confidence.
Once fully trained up you'll effectively be doing an out-and-out sales role based in one of our retail branches. You'll advise on one of the most competitive and comprehensive product-ranges in the business, helping customers to find the solution that's right for them. Once you've completed all of your training and are in place at the branch, you'll start to receive excellent levels of referrals from your branch colleague and get to grips with the easy-to-use POS technology to help you make the sale. We also offer flexible hours and a very broad range of career channels across the flourishing HBOS group making this a career with real options as well as prospects.

Generating leads
You won't be on your own. Sales are a key objective for your branch colleagues. Whilst there are plenty of ready-made leads provided for you from our central campaigns, we'll also expect you to manage your own lead supply. An important part of your role will be to coach branch colleagues to provide you with high volumes of quality leads. So teamwork and motivational skills are absolutely vital. You'll also have direct access to our unrivalled customer base – an amazing 25 million HBOS customers in the UK - in order to generate your own appointments.

The Point of Sales computer system that you will use when talking to customers is right up there with the best. Designed to help make the whole sales process simpler and more effective, it can help you win the sale quickly and compliantly. It also incorporates an Electronic Diary system to reduce paperwork and help you make the most of your time.

There's a residential induction course, formal in-branch training, plus support from management teams and senior PFAs, all of which is designed to help you develop your skills and your sales potential.
